Introduction

Animal farm is a famous book written in the early 1940s and first published in 1945. The novel is about animals on a farm that fought their human farmer seeking freedom. (Orwell, 2017). The animals were feeling oppressed, and they wanted a better society where they can rule themselves and make their own choices. The manuscript contains animal characters that satirically represent human beings. The theme of the book was to unveil what was going on in the political era during world war two, soviet unions, and other political turmoil during that time. (Maulani et al, 2020). It was written by George Orwell; a novelist who used his ability in the art of writing to criticize politics and other journal critics. He was able to write different novels and poems and Animal farms are one of his best books he has ever written. He was born in 1903 in India but became a British national. His fiction and artwork remain one of the most influential in culture and politics (Bluemel et al, 2016). He is also the author of other famous books of the 20th century like Nineteen Eighty-Four. The title of the publication is Animal farm, however, its original title was Animal Farm: A fairy story, but the subtitle was dropped later on, the name and the entire book was translated into different other languages, but it did not change its meaning. The impact of the title in the story is shallow at glance but deep when you read it. The outer meaning of the title can be simply the literal animals that we rear on the farm. However, the contextual meaning of the title is people who were ruled and tried to rebel but later their plans were destroyed by betrayal. The title brings impact to the message that the story is trying to convey an after reading the story it is understandable that the title was satirized in its meaning.

Why I Picked the Book

I picked the order because it is relatable to what is going on today in this country and other parts of the world still. It is still relevant and relatable even after a century of existence. There are different forms of betrayal and retrogressive behaviors that happen especially in the political arena. The problem is not only the elite in the politics but the citizens who vote them in. The citizens tend to betray themselves by buying, bribes, ethnicity, racism, and outdated supremacy behaviors to elect their leaders. They then end up in the same situation they were, as the book explains trough the farm animal characters. It also touches on current issues like drug abuse as seen through the human character Mr. Jones.

My Take on the Book

The book is undisputedly one of the best books that did well in the 20th century. The style in which the volume is written stirs interest in reading the reader. The use of animal characters together with human characters at one level was one of the best combinations ever. It also was meant to satirically mean the opposite of who the characters were. The tome indirectly talks about the politics of the Russian revolution and the Soviet Union and other experiences such as the Spanish civil war. The issues carry with it aspects of integrity, humanity, and faithfulness among people working together. The technique the author used criticizes and reflected on how the politics referred were run during the moments associated with the events mentioned above. According to me, there is no harm in the technique that the book used to pass the message to the audience, it adds flavor to the novel and at the same time, passes strong messages on issues that are affecting the community. It also served as the history keeper of what was taking place in the political arena during the Soviet Union and other political stories. Although some critics say the book was insensitive in addressing some people as animals and specifically pigs. There would have never been a better choice with character selection that would represent the character traits that were taken by the pig and other farm animals.

What I got out of the Book

After reading the novel, there are very many things that I learned other than entertaining myself. In the field of writing, uniqueness is one of the key things to success. It popped out of nowhere because of its unique style of satirically talking about political critics with the use of characters that were contextualized into a farm setting to mean political podium. Many stories were written regarding critics of them 1945 between Russia, Britain, and other countries that had similar interests. However, the books did not do well like Animal Farm because of a lack of creativity and uniqueness. The tome also is about one of the contemporary issues that could capture the attention of many. It shows that sensitive issues that most people are afraid to speak about, could be the most interesting things that people might want to hear.

What the Book Made me Think

Animal Farm made me think about, many things in life. First, it is a reminder of what was going on in the time the book was written. It also makes me think about betrayal. Betrayal is one of the biggest enemies that human beings face. It destroys good plans that would have resulted in freedom and a good life at the end. Betrayal did not end with the characters in the book, it is still there and unless we learn to be faithful in whatever we are doing, we might end up going back to the same situation we wanted ourselves out just like as it happened in the book’s story.

What I Learned From the Book

Animal Farm contains a heavy message to people and humanity. I was able to consume the message from the book and learn from the moral lesson conveyed by the story in the book. The lesson learned can be emulated into different other fields in our day to day lives, we face different challenges in life that need us to come together to overcome them. Betrayal is a challenge, by reading and internalizing the message of this book, it makes me understand how some acts can be destroying. There are also several things regarding the art of writing that I acquired from the book. I was inspired by the creativity behind the book in such a time when the art of writing was still developing. The wisdom portrayed by different characters like Muriel the goat would be useful in life.

Conclusion

Animal farm is an example of the many political satire books that took the market by storm during the 20th century; we get to learn about the styles the publication has and the art behind the writing. It is an interesting story to read with a relevant situation that once happened. It is a form of entertainment and one way to feed our minds with the wise work of great people in the writing industry. Different things were discussed in the book including the title, the author, and the publisher that provides the whole picture of the success of the work and how it takes before something becomes victorious. It provides a moment to experience the animal world from a human point of view. The most important things though are the content that the work carries.-The content carries a heavy message on the future of humanity, drug abuse, oppression, and leadership.
