Introduction
In the entire play, Macbeth’s character, as it is presented in the play, is progressing from a good person with admirable qualities, which later disappears. At the same time, evil develops more and more. As seen, his career moves from top to the bottom, in which the bottom part is the bad side of him. As the audience of this play, we are allowed to see the changes and the shifting of character. Shake spear has evidently used some of the devices which are dramatic to illustrate the influence in which Macbeth has exposed. Macbeth has a few flaws, which are fatal, which allow him to be given the name of a hero who is tradition tragic. We can see how he is arrogant due to his excessive qualities, which led to the fall and the immediate death of the tragic hero in a tragedy, which is considered tragic.
From the temptation from the withes and the wife to perform the murder, we see hoe Macbeth makes a downfall from the heroic and the general noble. The state of Macbeth in the entire play diminishes as we see how Macbeth transforms from a hero to a villain. As the play begins, we have a glimpse of how Macbeth and Banquo being told that they Have been fighting in the battle. Macbeth id then hailed as the heroic Macbeth as a brave since he had killed mc Donald, and he was successfully facing the troop from Norwegian. On the other hand, Macbeth Hs triumphed against the traitor Cawdor, and he had successfully captured him, and he obtained ransom as well as a favorable peace treaty from the Norway king.
In scene three acts one, Macbeth receives greetings from three witches, glacis, Cawdor, and the king himself’. There was an existing belief of the power of witches, which is confirmed by the hunt witch craze. The witchcraft practice was mostly seen to undermine and had a threat to the establishment of the religious order in society. It was, however, not given a priority at all since it was never tolerated. The majority believed during the seventeenth century that the witches’ were so much power, and they can exercise very big influence over Macbeth. More so, the king took part in the witches; hence he killed many people, is interest grew higher, and he believed in the witchcraft and his powers. The three withes are, however, seen as evil. It is therefore concluded that they are the ones who are responsible for the creation of the evil desires in Macbeth for the throne. There were evil thoughts of an ambitious nature. It was, however, his evil conscience that it made it to begin. When he got the information that Duncan had made him the thane Cawdor, he at that moment gave way to the temptation suggested by the word of those witches, and he allowed his ambitious thoughts to be swayed ways fully.
Therefore we see how Macbeth’s character begins to develop in a manner in which he reacted to the prophecies of the witches. The withes had ambitions on the seeds that they planted in his mind, and he lets them fester until he started to believe in them. Later in the play, Macbeth had developed, and he was announced to be the thane of Cawdor. Macbeth had pondered on what the withes had predicted (Degünther, Alina 33). ‘This supernatural soliciting cannot be good, \cannot be ill, it is ill, why has it given me the success commencing in a truth’? At this moment, Macbeth is trying to have himself convinced that there was nothing that was ringing and what has happened and that if it was evil, then there must be nothing good coming from it. From the fact that repletion has been used to give more emphasis on the central play theme, the balance which is between the good and the evil’ when the evil dominates, everything takes a turn for the worst keeping us in mind to choose good over evil.
Macbeth was now fully aware of his evil deeds, which will come back like a plague to him. Macbeth has no doubt. He has shown that he cannot have any difference between the good and the bad because he is much focused on the ambition of becoming the king, and it does not matter to him how he will achieve his goals. In the play, we see how Macbeth I waiting just for the ring of the bell, which is a signal to kill Duncan. This is now a very tense and an edgy time for Macbeth since his mind is really tormented, and he has begun to hallucinate, and he sees a dagger. Having the speech in the air brings an apprehension. There is a sense in which Macbeth is never going back from his decision. The bell, which is rung by Lady Macbeth, is a sign for the murder act to start. This adds to the intensity of the suspense creation from the speech.
Macbeth is now fully recognized as evil. The signal from the bell showed the beginning of the end of Macbeth, his character will never be returned after this night, and his whole deeds become more and more dangerous and evil as the play progresses. The lack of reasoning from him is illustrated by the less frequent euphemisms used. Despite Macbeth still using some euphemisms, his conscience has already been scorched. He used the word like murder for the first time during this soliloquy (Degünther, Alina 54). However, he seemed to have the exception low view of himself at this moment, and he compared himself to a ghost, a wolf, and he even called himself a rapist. He despises himself for the ac that he was about to do; it illustrates the weakeness in is character since he is willing to have any moral sacrifice which he had before for him to satisfy his greed.
Conclusion
In the entire play, we see a strange and extreme character change in Macbeth, with some of the aspects, remain constant. In the beginning, he is so loving and faithful, the loyal seventh of the king, but soon all these goodness changes. Both the lady Macbeth and the witches assisted his ambition to come up with the fester in his mind. Macbeth, in the beginning, is determined to prove a point to his wife that he was indeed in love with her, and he is a worthy man. From this point, however, Macbeth’s ambitions did motivate him and overcome his conscience, which made him determined and that no one was going to stand on his way. He never needed Lady Macbeth’s persuasions and her involvement in the business. He considered nothing, for he had a focus on his kingship in which he is ready to do anything to keep it although he knows evil.
